Boston Red Sox and the Green Monster
The large wall that is the filed wall at Fenway Park is nicknamed the Green Monster. The original wall was made of all wood.
It has since been covered with tin and concrete and then hard plastic. It was painted green in 1947.
The wall is the tallest in the MLB and therefore is famous for robbing players of home runs. Before there were seats atop the green monster there was a net.
The net was there to prevent any damage to the stores on the street outside. The net was removed in 2003 to make room for seats. This area can hold 274 fans.
Also attached to the Green Monster is a ladder. It was originally there to accommodate grounds crews who need to retrieve balls.
Since the net is no longer there, the ladder serves no real purpose. If you are hoping to see a Red Sox game you should see the action from atop the Green Monster.
